Okay, I did not make the list and neither did you. There is also only one woman on the list and she is part of a family. I knew 95% of the big guns in fashion were men but this is very interesting. We can still keep working on that. Of course you know H&M is on the list but I guarantee you’ll say huh??? to a few names until you read what labels they represent. (Forbes)

Bernard Arnault - Louis Vuitton. Famous in France (he’s the wealthiest man in the country), Arnault’s better known by the brands his company, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, owns. They include Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Fendi, Thomas Pink and Donna Karan. Arnault’s $25.5 billion net worth in March made him 13th on our list of the world’s billionaires, No. 1 when it comes to fashion. But Arnault didn’t start his career in the industry. Trained as an engineer, he moved into luxury goods in 1985 when he used money from his family’s construction company to buy Christian Dior
The Benettons - The siblings Carlo, Gilberto, Giuliana and Luciano Benetton founded the Benetton Group in 1965. The company now has over 5,000 stores in 120 countries, but that’s a striking difference from its humble beginnings. In the early days, Giuliana would personally knit sweaters that Luciano would travel on a bicycle to sell.

I don’t know about you but Kylie Minogue does absolutely nothing for me. I tried listening to her on Dancing with the Stars to understand what her appeal is, but I got sidetracked.
Looks like Kylie is chanelling Spiderwoman for her European tour. The Australian singer showed she really does still have the X Factor as she kicked off her KylieX2008 world tour at the Palais Omnisport de Paris Bercy Stadium in Paris. The star will cast her spell on a host of countries including Germany, Russia, Finland and the UK. As the French say “chacun à son goût”. To each his taste.—- Yawwwnnn!
Kylie was this weekend honoured with the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters for her contribution to enriching French culture.

Deep-Vein Thrombosis (DVT) awareness comes to the forefront tonight at the Parsons The New School for Design’s annual AAS Line Debut. As part of its mission to continue raising public knowledge of this serious and potentially life-threatening condition, the Coalition to Prevent DVT has partnered with Parsons, one of the world’s leading institutions for design education, to create a new symbol for DVT awareness. I love to see fashion people suppoting great causes.
Each year up to two million people in the United States suffer from DVT, and approximately 300,000 die from its potentially fatal complication, pulmonary embolism (PE). In fact, DVT complications kill more Americans each year than breast cancer and AIDS combined. DVT-related PE is the most
common cause of preventable hospital death. Certain individuals may be at increased risk for developing DVT, but it can occur in almost anyone.
The Parsons AAS Line Debut Exhibition will be on view from May 7-16, 2008, at the Sheila C. Johnson Design Center at Parsons The New School for Design, located at Fifth Avenue at 13th Street in New York. For more information, please visit http://www.parsons.newschool.edu/events.
New York-based designer, Jay Godfrey, a Parsons AAS Fashion Studies program alum, will be the recipient of this year’s Stacie Nipps alumni award.
Leading up to today’s fashion show in New York City, Bloom visited hospitals and other institutions across the country, encouraging healthcare professionals to design socks that demonstrate what DVT means to them. More than 1,600 hospitals participated in local DVT Awareness by Design fashion
shows throughout March to draw attention to this under-recognized yet serious condition. Parsons’ students tapped into these DVT Awareness by Design entries as inspiration for their own fashion leg wear creations.
This inspirational leg wear will serve as the foundation to create the new DVT awareness icon, replacing the maroon-ribbon lapel pin. (prnewswire)

Payless is going to have to paymore to Adidas. A legal battle between Adidas AG and Payless ShoeSource over parallel stripes resulted in a huge win for Adidas: a jury award of $305 million.
The jury went through images of all 268 shoes and found 267 different Payless colors and styles had improperly copped Adidas’ logo. The Payless shoes use two- and four-parallel stripes.Only Lot # 9055 was found not to be an infringement, according to Stephen Feldman, an attorney at Perkins Coie in Portland who helped bring the case.
See what the knockoffs look like here.
Legal experts say the verdict is significant and will serve as a wake-up call for discount retailers selling their own line of consumer products. Adidas shoes are not available in the nearly 4,600 Payless discount shoe stores.
KSwiss, who use use five parallel stripes, has also filed a similar lawsuit against Payless and hired an attorney to watch this case very closely. (Oregon Live)

Ever since Karl Lagerfeld did H&M, this trend has been on a downward? spiral. Told you cheap is chic and cheap is in! We told you about Targets Go International line and SJP’s $10 dress and you began to get the whole out of control feeling of just where is this going? . It was dizzyingly disappointing when Tara Jarmon designed for Target…. Now, Holly Dunlap of Hollywould has designed a handbag and shoe line for Target. Oy Vey!

The teaming of Target Corp. and Barneys New York has to be one of the oddest pairings in recent fashion history. The mass market purveyor of everything from diapers and lightbulbs to blenders and dog food will introduce its eco-friendly Rogan for Target’s Go International line at Barneys’ Madison Avenue flagship on Friday until Sunday, and then at Barneys’ Los Angeles store from May 16 to 18. Barneys will limit purchases to three pieces. The line will only be in stock for five days and, after that, shoppers will have to wait for the collection’s debut at Target as part of its Go International line.
So why is this odd couple getting together? WWD seems to understand, they have a six page story on this. Rogan, the eco-conscious line for Target will be launched May 8 at Barneys. The collection, which marks the first time Barneys has carried Target merchandise, will arrive in New York and Los Angeles on May 8 and 15, respectively, and will be carried on the Co-op floor. (WWD)
The Rogan line is designed by Gregory Rogan, a former Gap designer who won the prestigious CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award for 2008, helms three labels: ethical T-shirt label EDUN which he runs with Bono’s wife Ali Hewson, Loomstate, an all-organic line of t-shirts and jeans, and his own edgier line Rogan.
Having the products of one designer selling for two different price points in the same store can confuse and alienate customers. “When they’re in the same store it’s pushing the limits,” Armendinger said. “When you have $29 jeans and $250 jeans from the same designer, consumers will start to ask, ‘Is that fabric really worth 10 times more than the other fabric?’”
The company has also announced that it will be working with the supermodel Kate Moss on an upcoming collection for GO International in the Fall.
Hey, might as well start looking for Prada in Walmart. You never know. PS: Buy all your Isaac Mizrahi for Target stuff, as he won’t be renewing his contract with Target
