Pharrell launches new season of “Billionaire Boys Club”… Karl dons a safety vest
INTERNATIONAL megastar Pharrell Williams brought the bling to Harvey Nichols last night, as he performed live with N*E*R*D to launch the new-season collections of the sportswear lines he co-founded in 2005 with Japanese design star NIGO: Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream.
With chilled Moet and decadent Mr Chow canapés (topped with gold leaf, naturally) in abundant supply, the likes of Mischa Barton, Will Young, Jade Parfitt, Jasmine Guinness, Jourdan Dunn and Immodesty Blaize packed out the store’s Fifth Floor restaurant for some serious head-bobbing.
The dress code was relaxed, with everything from baggy jeans to Chanel 2.55 handbags in evidence, while many of the guests were wearing pieces from both the Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream ranges - with Harvey Nichols reporting that it had sold out of many key items before the event.
BECKHAM TAKES IT OFF AGAIN
DAVID BECKHAM spared his blushes yesterday to personally unveil the somewhat steamy new Emporio Armani underwear campaign, in which he stars for a second season, at US department store Macy’s.
Shot on Malibu beach by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, the autumn/winter 2008-9 images feature the football hero in some very brief briefs indeed - which will doubtlessly raise eyebrows outside Macy’s San Francisco, where a giant mural has been erected to face out over a 6,000-seat amphitheatre.
The new Emporio Armani Underwear collection will launch in European stores in July and US outlets from August.
STAYING SAFE WITH LAGERFELD
Can this man make anything and everything look chic or what??
Such is his sartorial power, road safety chiefs in France have chosen the designer as the face of their latest campaign to encourage drivers to wear light-reflecting clothing when travelling at night.
Clad in his trademark dark glasses, suit and bowtie with a yellow vest, Lagerfeld cuts a dashing figure on a dark road in the poster, which carries the tagline: “It’s yellow, it’s ugly, it doesn’t go with anything, but it could save your life”.
Mais Oui!!!
