40 year YSL fashion retrospective showing in Montreal and SF museums only.
San Francisco’s DeYoung is the only U.S. museum to host a 40-year retrospective of Yves Saint Laurent’s work. The exhibit opens in November and will include 120 accessorized outfits. This is after it packs up in Montreal, Canada where it is on display from May 29 through September 2008.
The collection is breathtaking and sheer genius. Structured around four themes, the exhibition develops the revolutionary nature of a body of work that has marked both the past and the present with a new definition of femininity and left a signature that transcends fashion. The display will include 145 accessorized creations belonging to the Fondation Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent, as well as drawings and videos.
The YSL Art Collection also goes up on auction at Christies sometime this year.
