DURING his 27 years in jail, Nelson Mandela was known as prisoner 46664 and to commemorate his 90th birthday today, he is teaming up with luxury brand Montblanc to create a stylish bangle engraved with this number.
Made from South African precious metals (they come in 18kgold, 24k gold, silver, platinum) and finished by skilled craftsmen, who have all been affected by HIV or Aids, this is a bracelet that is charitable as well as chic.
“Montblanc is honoured to be part of such a significant and life-changing initiative. The plight against HIV and Aids is an incredibly worthy cause and Montblanc are exceptionally proud to be able to support and contribute to the success of this project,” said Lutz Bethge, ceo of Montblanc International.
The 46664 bangle, which is available from selected Montblanc boutiques, is individually numbered and prices range from $ 233.33 to $ 15,866.67
Proceeds go directly to the Mandela Foundation, which supports those suffering from the Aids epidemic throughout Africa.
