In the end Holly couldn’t……as “Hollywould” goes up for Sale

Fashion is Merciless…One day, you’re in and the next you’re out.

The Economy?? (it’s okay to blame the economy) has claimed another victim - Hollywould Shoes called so because its owner Holly Dunlap was a focused businesswoman.

“I knew what I wanted to do and was really focused from when I was little,” she says.

Holly Dunlap launched her own accessories business without any experience and found herself nominated for a CFDA award for accessories design.

The shoes also had the dubious dinstinction of being  the most practical $600 stilettos you can find: They have a special heel and foot bed that is springy and padded so you can run around in them.

In other words, they are sexy shoes you can get roaring drunk in. Yeah! always something to consider when you buy $600 shoes.

Hollywould’s first flirty shoe collection hit Bergdorf Goodman in spring 2000, and things happened quickly. The company opened a boutique in Nolita in 2001, only to expand to a bigger space a block away within a year.

With Sophie Dahl and Cameron Diaz snapping up your ballet flats and starlets from Liv Tyler to Mena Suvari falling for your sexy sandals, a business grows up fast.

In an electronic statement to the press, she says “Many of you have heard that Hollywould is up for sale. Sadly, the press office is closing, and today is my last day . . . As of now, I do not know where I will be going, but I will stay in touch.”

Don’t cry for Ms. Dunlap, somehow we think she will survive by the accounts of her experiences in The Observer. She calls flying economy flying cattle - Cute, but people must have grown weary of paying $600 for shoes all the time.

She hasn’t sold her business yet but who is going to buy it?. Any takers?
